A more flexible stock rule

A few details help explain this feature. The game still uses 104 cards in ten columns. Choose one suit, two suits or four suits using the game controls. The objective remains eight complete same-suit King-to-Ace runs. Relaxed Spider on contraem.com permits stock deals while columns are empty.

The relaxed difference

The following details apply here. The relaxed stock rule does not allow mixed-suit groups to move together. An empty column no longer prevents a stock deal in this variant. A stock card dealt to an empty column becomes that column's first face-up card. The relaxed stock rule does not change the rank requirement for ordinary moves.

Ten columns and a stock

Here are the details for this mode. Only the bottom card of each opening column is face up. The first four columns have six cards each and the remaining six have five. The opening tableau contains 54 cards. The stock contains fifty cards for five later deals.

Move a single card

Keep these points in mind. An exposed card may land on another exposed card exactly one rank higher. The two cards do not need to share a suit for a single-card placement. An Ace cannot receive a lower-ranked card. A King needs an empty destination because no rank is higher.

Move a group

A suit change can leave a smaller movable group at the bottom of a column. A break in rank prevents the entire selected group from moving together. Same-suit building can reduce the work needed to separate mixed sequences later. A descending group moves as a unit only when every selected card shares a suit.

Use empty columns thoughtfully

Keep these points in mind. Empty columns remain useful for separating temporary mixed builds. Any exposed card or legal same-suit group can occupy an empty column. You may preserve an empty column until you decide to deal from the stock. A new stock row fills every empty column with one card.

Stock deals are still shared

Here are the details for this mode. Dealing can block an existing sequence as well as reveal new combinations. You cannot direct an individual stock card to a chosen destination. A stock deal places one card onto each of the ten columns. Undo restores the previous arrangement when the stock-deal snapshot is available.

Clear the table

Here are the details for this mode. The game removes a complete run automatically at the bottom of a column. A complete run contains thirteen face-up cards in one suit from King to Ace. Changing the number of suits does not change the number of required runs. Eight collected runs are required to finish Relaxed Spider.

Practice the variant

The following details apply here. New game creates a fresh shuffle in the selected suit setting. Replay restores the same shuffle for another attempt. Hints identify legal options without guaranteeing a win. Random relaxed deals are not presented as guaranteed solvable.
